Challenge

OEMs required detailed product carbon footprints for supplier nomination, forcing the client to commit to CO₂ targets early in the product development cycle. Previously, carbon footprints were calculated ad-hoc using Excel, leading to uncertainty and the need for a more reliable, scalable process.

Tset's Approach

Tset's approach involves establishing a bottom-up calculation structure for the bill of materials, encompassing all processes and materials with modular support from Tset’s Engine and master data. CO2 premises for key raw materials and energy sources are defined and applied. Scenario simulations are conducted to evaluate the cost impact of CO2 reduction measures, leading to a final scenario selection and submission of the OEM’s product carbon footprint breakdown.
